FDR Services’ Official Response to the Coronavirus

 To our valued customers,

In these times of uncertainty, we want you to know that the safety and health of our employees and customers is always our top priority. Now more than ever, our business is you.

Nationally, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has caused not only illness and death but also major economic uncertainty, as supply chains are brought to a standstill. As known cases grow in our area, FDR is continuing to implement existing and new solutions that will allow us to maintain the service levels that you expect. As we continue to monitor the situation, which is changing daily, we are in discussions with our vendors, working on securing additional products that we fee l will be in critical supply due to manufacturing and supply chain interruptions.

We are doing everything possible to ensure that we continue operations as the situation changes. Our plants ALWAYS strictly follow all TRSA, CDC and HLAC guidelines for safely processing contaminated linens. With an overabundance of caution, we are reviewing and reinforcing these practices and procedures. We have developed contingency plans that allow our plants to serve as backup for each other. This redundancy of operations and logistics will hopefully allow our service levels to proceed uninterrupted.

The key to continuing our successful partnership is based on the foundation of increased communication. If your facility is developing new safety procedures as to how our deliveries will be managed, please communicate these new policies to your Account Executive immediately. Many of our customers have already reached out to us to define new directives for their soil pickup and clean deliveries.

As some of our customers are now preparing for treating patients with a positive diagnosis of the coronavirus (COVID-19), we are being asked how to handle the soiled linen from these patients. We request that all potentially contaminated linen being returned to FDR for processing be put in separate soil bags and handled in separate soil linen bins. Please notify your account executive and identify the linen bin as containing linen potentially exposed to the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

We ask for this special handling in the interest of extreme caution. FDR follows Universal Precautions on a routine basis in the handling of soiled linen to protect against both known and unknown pathogens and will continue to exercise industry best practices.

As always, we are committed to upholding the highest standard of cleanliness by continuing to work closely with Diamond Chemical, our chemical partner. Diamond Chemical has shared their own best practices and the latest products that may be useful to combat the spread of COVID-19.

As we continue to monitor developments and navigate through these challenging circumstances, we want you to know that you can rely on us always to put your health and safety first. Thank you for trusting FDR as your linen partner. If you have any questions regarding the COVID-19 outbreak and its effects on the healthcare linen industry, please contact your Account Executive or call 1-800-FDR-0097.
